<b>Cristiano Ronaldo Biography - The Complete Life Story and Biography of Cristiano Ronaldo</b><br /><br />Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on February 5, 1985 in Santo Ant&oacute;nio, a neighborhood of Madeira; a small island off the west coast of Portugal. The youngest of four children, to mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos, and father, Jos&eacute; Dinis Aveiro, he grew up in poverty, living in a tin-roofed house, and had to share his bedroom with his older siblings: Hugo, Elma, and Liliana C&aacute;tia. His father was an alcoholic and to make ends meet his mother worked two jobs: one as a cook, the other as a cleaner.<br />His middle name, Ronaldo, was given to him by his father after his favorite actor, Ronald Reagan.<br />From a very early age, it was evident that he had a talent for football and his parents knew that this was his pathway out of the slums. As a boy he played for a small-town club, Andorinha, where his father was the kit man and by the time he was 10 he was touted as &ldquo;one for the future.&rdquo;<br />His godfather Fernao Sousa once told reporters, &ldquo;All he wanted to do was play football. He loved the game so much he&rsquo;d miss meals or escape out of his bedroom window with a ball when he was supposed to be doing his homework.&rdquo;<br />After a small stint with Primeira Liga club Nacional (based in Madeira), Ronaldo was offered the opportunity to go on a three-day trial with Sporting CP (Sporting Clube de Portugal), another Primeira Liga side. The club was so impressed with the 12-year-old that they signed him straight away for $2,000.
