In this 416th issue of the Baba Indaba’s Children's Stories series, Baba Indaba narrates the Japanese Fairy Tale "The Legend Of Yoshitsune”.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune (1159 – 1189) was a military commander of the Minamoto clan of Japan in the late Heian and early Kamakura periods. During the Genpei War, he led a series of battles which toppled the Ise-Heishi branch of the Taira clan. He is considered one of the greatest and the most popular warriors of his era, and one of the most famous samurai fighters in the history of Japan

As a boy his father was killed in battle by members of the Taira Clan. Yoshitsune was sent to a monastery to be educated by monks. One night, while practising his swordsmanship, he was startled by a great thunderstorm, and saw before him a mighty giant with a long red nose and enormous glaring eyes, bird-like claws, and feathered wings. Bravely standing his ground, Yoshitsune inquired who this giant might be, and was informed that he was King of the Tengu.

What happened next you ask…? And, just who are the Tengu? Well many mostly serious things happened. To find the answers to these questions, and others you may have, you will have to download and read this story to find out!
