For fourteen years the Kaiser was my patient. All I know of him and all that he told me came to me while the relation of patient and dentist existed between us. For that reason I felt at first that no matter how vital to the Allied cause might be the information I could give as to the Kaiser's Viewpoint, ambitions, and plans, the require ments of professional ethics must seal my lips and compel me to withhold it from the world at large. When, however, I considered the grave crisis that confronts the world and in which my own country is playing so important a part, and realised that what I knew of the Kaiser might prove of some value to my country, I concluded that my patriotic duty was para mount and rose superior to any of the ordinary demands of professional ethics.
