Carlo Tessarini (1690-1766) was violinist among the major performers in the first half of eighteenth century and composer of great national and international reputation, as evidenced by many printings of his compositions appeared in Italy, France, England, Holland. Pantomime was published in 1763 in Paris. The title refers to the pantomime, a show aimed to large social levels of audience, in which actors express themselves almost exclusively with gestures and with narrative or descriptive attitudes. Tessarini’s violinism crossed the way of the great violin Italian tradition and it possessed very personal peculiarities, such as the frequent use of high positions, the extensive use of double strings, the marked simplicity of compositional forms and a particularly accurate instrumental writing in which coexist two elements: the simplicity of expression and the sophistication of melodic lines. Sharon Tomaselli, violinst, has to her credit numerous concerts, in chamber ensembles and orchestras, for important cultural and musical institutions. For Tactus label, she recorded Felice Giardini’s Duets in World premiere. She is passionately dedicated also to teaching.
