One of the most brilliant of the younger historians in the United States, Professor Carl L. Becker, of the Uni versity of Kansas, has prophesied that American history will shortly be rewritten along economic lines. This col lection of essays on the first decade of politics under the Constitution is intended to be a modest contribution to the fulfilment of that prophecy.
