The first edition of this little volume, consisting of one thousand copies, having been exhausted and the demand for its circulation continuing unabated, the issuing of a second edition seems justifiable. It is gratifying to the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society, which authorized its production, as well as to the author, that the publication has been so favorably received by the public. It has elicited complimentary notice from leading magazines and journals and from many prominent scholars in American archaeology.
