Christopher Avery was selectman at Gloucester in 1646, 1657 and 1634. At a court in Salem he took the freeman's oath, June 9, 1652 was chosen and sworn clerk of the band, constable, and clerk of the market. His wife did not come with him to this country, and, in 1654, he was relieved 'of a fine imposed for living apart from her, as the following shows.
