These studies have been published with the double object of attempting to interest the people of Jamaica in the story of their own island, and of providing particulars of a few of the epochs in its history for the tourists and others who year by year visit its shores. It is also hoped that they may, perchance, appeal to some other of the' inhabitants of that Empire of which Jamaica forms a small but very loyal part.
