Carolina, was divided by later charters into North and South Carolina and Georgia all of which, however, are capable in a measure of being comprised in a general description, as they resem ble each other in many characteristics of external formation, soil, productions, and climate. At the time of the Revolution, South Carolina had a sea coast of about two hundred miles, and was settled from two to three hundred miles inland.
