Yet, in place of a continuous season of leisure, there has been given me the leisure moments and the hours of many thoughtful years. During these years the principal subjects of Intellectual Philosophy have been constantly in my prospect, and the volume which is now offered to the public is the fruit of these medita tions in this lapse of time.
