The Editor of the present volume has undertaken to make a selection from the voluminous sermons issued in the octave volumes in the year above mentioned. It was not a very easy task to choose from so many sermons only such as may prove of interest at the present time. The Editor, however. Has endea voured to adapt the selected sermons to modern phases of thought.
