But the ancient masters discovered that sleep, or a sleep-like state, helped man create his assumptions. Therefore they represented man&#39;s first creative act as one in which man was in a deep sleep.<br /><br />This not only sets the pattern for all future creative acts, but shows us that man has only one substance truly his own to use in creating his world, and that is himself.
