It was neither idle curiosity nor personal vanity which prompted our Lord and Master to ask His disciples this important question. He well knew that the success of His Kingdom depended, in a great measure, upon what men believed and said concerning His personality. What was true in the days of His ?esh is true today. What men have said and are still say ing of the Christ is not only a matter of intel lectual interest to the world but also of vital importance to the kingdom of God. For two thousand years Jesus Christ has been the one central character of human his tory. It would be strange indeed if we did not wish to know what the great men in every age of the world's history thought and said of Him.
