Hebrew Scriptures, When professional duty required me to attend to the criticism of the New Testament, the tran sition was easy to the Syriac versions of it, which yield so abundant a harvest of good things to those who culti vate them. In this, as in all intellectual pursuits, the desire grew by what it fed upon, and incursions were made, as opportunities offered, into other departments of the field of Syriac literature.
