I had an intense desire to furnish such a Life of my revered Friend, as would be worthy of what I feel to be her high claims, as a noble Christian woman possessed of remarkable genius. Nothing that I could do would ever seem to me to be adequate to those claims, or worthy of the ideal which exists in my own mind.
