This book was written in California, and hence nearly all its subjects and illustrative scenes are Californian; but it comes so near to the real life in human nature, which, with its varieties, is the same everywhere, and it shows' by so many life-examples the perfect adaptation of the Gospel to humanity, that I think it quite unnecessary to make any altera.
