About five years ago I almost unknowingly commenced this work by asking a few questions in a community which for upwards of two hundred years consisted quite exclusively of members of the Society Of 'friends' and their descendants; and, being a New England woman born and bred, the facts of ancestry and history brought out in the replies to my questions so interested me that I was led on, step by step, with deepening ardor through musty old records, Regis tries Of Probate and Deeds, town and parish annals and Old family documents (many Of which verified doubtful traditions), until in my enthusiasm I decided to compile and preserve for all time for those by the name of Frost, and those Of Frost descent, all the available facts and data relative to at least one pioneer whose descendants belonged to and were prominent in the community above referred to,-and which data seemed likely otherwise to be forever lost through the passing away of the Older members of the family, with their reminiscences unre corded. For fully one hundred years, dating from the time of the grandchildren of William Frost, the pioneer, there was hardly a marriage outside the Society Of Friends recorded; and to-day many of his descendants still cling to the faith Of their fathers, and indeed retain in many customs the ways and habits Of this fast-disappearing delightful folk.
