La Città di San Lazzaro di Savena, al confine con Bologna, con una storia antica e oltre 32mila residenti è il quarto comune in ordine di abitanti della Città metropolitana bolognese. Stando al reddito pro capite dei suoi residenti è uno dei più ricchi comuni d'Italia, più del suo confinante capoluogo di regione; eppure nello stemma municipale ha l'immagine di Lazzaro il mendicante lebbroso del Vangelo di Luca. Per di più uno dei suoi personaggi più famosi Padre Marella (don Giuseppe Olinto Marella), prete accattone, ha nutrito e ospitato molte centinaia di bambini e ragazzi orfani o indigenti facendo il mendicante nel centro di Bologna; e il 4 ottobre 2020 viene beatificato. The city of San Lazzaro di Savena, on the border with Bologna, with an ancient history and over 32 thousand residents, is the fourth municipality in order of inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Bologna. According to the per capita income of its residents, it is one of the richest municipalities in Italy, more than its neighboring regional capital; yet in the municipal coat of arms it has the image of Lazarus, the leper beggar from the Gospel of Luke. Moreover, one of his most famous characters Father Marella (Don Giuseppe Olinto Marella), a beggar priest, has fed and hosted many hundreds of orphaned or destitute children and young people by begging in the center of Bologna; and on October 4, 2020 he was beatified.
