Il razzismo nei fumetti da All-Negro alla Black Panter, da Martin Luther King a Slam Dunk. Nell'America degli anni '30 però la questione era più complessa. Proprio mentre gli USA si battevano contro il Nazismo in Europa, sul fronte interno la popolazione di colore viveva una realtà quotidiana di razzismo e separazione, frutto delle leggi approvate dopo la Guerra Civile. Il fumetto rifletteva questa contraddizione, così come sulle pagine dei fumetti pubblicati negli anni '50 e '60 era possibile trovare echi della lotta per i diritti civili portata avanti in nome della pari dignità degli esseri umani, a prescindere dal colore delle pelle. La storia del razzismo nella società americana e delle lotte antirazziste che portarono nel 1965 alla Legge sui Diritti Civili viene riletta alla luce delle tracce che emergono dall'esame delle storie pubblicate in quegli anni.

Even as the United States fought against Nazism in Europe, on the domestic front the black population was living an everyday reality of racism and segregation, the result of laws passed after the civil war. The comic strip reflected this contradiction, as well as on the pages of comic books published in the years ' 50 and ' 60 it was possible to find echoes of the civil rights struggle waged in the name of the equal dignity of human beings, regardless of the color of skin. The history of racism in American society-racism and the struggles that led in 1965 to the Civil Rights Act is reinterpreted in the light of the tracks that emerge from the examination of stories published in those years.
