Ampliata nel corso dei decenni sotto l'entusiastica guida del figlio Jean-Pierre, la loro collezione comprende oggi oltre 120 opere di altissimo livello, provenienti dall'Africa, dall'America e dall'Oceania. È possibile distinguere diverse grandi categorie che riflettono il gusto della famiglia Weill per le forme audaci ed espressionistiche: statue Dogon e Tellem che combinano forme geometriche con superfici testurizzate, così come le potenti figure di Kongo dotate di proprietà magiche. Nella collezione sono inoltre ben rappresentate le tipologie espressive di Nigeria, Camerun e Melanesia. Tra le opere più classiche si individuano pezzi che si connotano per uno status iconico - si pensi alla statua di Bena Lulua che apparteneva a Jacques Kerchache, alla figura reliquiario Fang di Edward Robinson, o al potente flauto Biwat della collezione Lemaire - tutti pezzi che testimoniano la profonda sensibilità dei Weill nonché l'istinto acuto che li ha condotti ad apprezzare quest'arte appartenente a un altro mondo. If the history of the collection of Josette and Jean-Claude Weill sees its first in painting, it is equally true that their incessant search for new forms has led them in a short time to become passionate about primitive arts. Expanded over the decades under the enthusiastic guidance of his son Jean-Pierre, their collection now includes more than 120 works of the highest level, coming from Africa, America and Oceania. It is possible to distinguish several large categories that reflect the Weill family's taste for bold and expressionist forms: Dogon and Tellem statues that combine geometric shapes with textured surfaces, as well as powerful Kongo figures with magical properties. The expressive types of Nigeria, Cameroon and Melanesia are also well represented in the collection.
