Prove penetrometriche dinamiche: Lo Standard Penetration Test (SPT) viene guardato con una certa sufficienza; in effetti si tratta di una prova relativamente grossolana, sensibile a fattori tecnologici e quindi affetta da una marcata dispersione e non completamente standardizzata. Tuttavia questa prova può essere eseguita nel corso di qualsiasi tipo di sondaggio, e praticamente in qualsiasi terreno, e pertanto costituisce uno degli strumenti più diffusi dell'armamentario dell'ingegnere geotecnico; per essa è stata accumulata una vastissima messe di dati sperimentali. Negli ultimi decenni, poi, sono state condotte ampie e approfondite ricerche sperimentali - quasi sempre facendo uso di camere di calibrazione - che hanno consentito di precisare e approfondire le relazioni fra i risultati della prova e le caratteristiche meccaniche dei terreni. Diego Lo Presti è professore Associato di Geotecnica presso l'Università di Pisa, dopo un'attività ventennale presso il Politecnico di Torino. E' presidente del Corso di Laurea Specialistica (Infrastrutture Civili) e svolge attività di ricerca prevalentemente nel settore della dinamica dei terreni e delle indagini geotecniche. Nunziante Squeglia è Ricercatore presso l'Università di Pisa, dove tiene corsi di Geotecnica (Corso Edile - Architettura) e di Fondazioni Profonde. Svolge attività di ricerca prevalentemente di tipo sperimentale finalizzate all'uso e allo sviluppo di nuove attrezzature.

Diego Lo Presti is Associate Professor of Geotechnics at the University of Pisa, after twenty years of activity at the Polytechnic of Turin. He is president of the Master's Degree Course (Civil Infrastructures) and carries out research mainly in the field of soil dynamics and geotechnical investigations. Nunziante Squeglia is a researcher at the University of Pisa, where he teaches courses in Geotechnics (Building Course - Architecture) and Deep Foundations. It carries out mainly experimental research aimed at the use and development of new equipment.
