Ediz. illustrata: Questo volume, che segue e completa Le botteghe a Torino, raccoglie il censimento delle botteghe storiche della Regione Piemonte realizzato utilizzando la legge regionale 34/95. Il censimento è molto esteso e ha comportato un lavoro pluriennale, che è stato sviluppato a partire dal 2002 e ha visto impegnate dieci équipe di schedatori, ciascuna formata da un architetto, uno storico dell'arte e un fotografo. Le Botteghe rilevate sono suddivise secondo le attuali otto province del territorio regionale: provincia di Torino, Cuneo, Vercelli, Biella, Asti, Alessandria, Novara e Verbania; sopralluoghi e indagini sul campo hanno permesso di individuare le diverse località che conservano botteghe e negozi di interesse storico. Nella maggioranza dei casi si tratta di locali riconducibili al periodo compreso tra la seconda metà dell'Ottocento e i primi decenni del Novecento, proprio quando nelle città piemontesi si verifica un vivace rinnovamento urbanistico, edilizio e uno sviluppo del commercio anche in funzione della crescita economica legata all'innovazione dei mezzi di produzione e allo sviluppo industriale. Questo volume pubblica 1040 schede, accompagnate da un inquadramento storico-urbanistico per ogni provincia che pone in evidenza lo sviluppo economico, sociale e urbano; per alcune città sono poi raccolte informazioni sulla storia e sull'organizzazione del commercio. Le città sono scelte con un criterio puramente quantitativo: quelle che conservano ancora più di nove botteghe storiche. This volume, which follows and completes Le botteghe a Torino, collects the census of the historic shops of the Piedmont Region carried out using regional law 34/95. The census is very extensive and involved many years of work, which has been developed since 2002 and involved ten teams of filers, each consisting of an architect, an art historian and a photographer. The shops surveyed are divided according to the current eight provinces of the regional territory: the provinces of Turin, Cuneo, Vercelli, Biella, Asti, Alessandria, Novara and Verbania; Inspections and field surveys have made it possible to identify the various locations that preserve shops and shops of historical interest. In most cases, these premises can be traced back to the period between the second half of the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century, precisely when in the Piedmontese cities there was a lively urban and building renovation and a development of commerce also as a function of economic growth linked to the innovation of the means of production and industrial development. This volume publishes 1040 fact sheets, accompanied by a historical-urban framework for each province that highlights economic, social and urban development; For some cities, information on the history and organization of trade is also collected. The cities are chosen with a purely quantitative criterion: those that still preserve more than nine historic shops. For each center, a current map locates the different shops, while historical maps and images are located in the same way.
