Carnets (1936-1947): "L'opera più nota di Victor Serge - le Memorie di un rivoluzionario (pubblicate in edizione critica e integrale presso questa casa editrice) termina con il suo arrivo in Messico, dove risiederà dal 1941 fino alla morte nel 1947. La nuova edizione dei Carnets riguarda proprio quest'ultimo periodo. Diario di bordo in presa diretta sulla realtà, questi taccuini fornivano al loro autore la materia prima della sua creazione letteraria e della sua riflessione politica, cui si ispirava per scrivere lettere, articoli, saggi, memorie, novelle, romanzi e poesie... Impossibile godersi la lettura dei Carnets senza avere almeno un'idea del contesto nel quale sono stati scritti. L'autore vi fa costantemente riferimento, spesso in modo implicito... I Carnets sono il laboratorio in cui si vede formare l'universo del "sé" dell'autore, in rapporto permanente con il "noi" che lo circonda: la scena tragica delle rivoluzioni tradite, ma in continuazione rinascenti. Anche le contraddizioni che insorgono tra la fragilità della soggettività e le necessità dell'azione collettiva ne costituiscono il tema centrale. Serge parla continuamente di sé, non delle proprie difficoltà personali, ma per indicare la prospettiva del narratore: il suo posto sulla scacchiera mondiale. The new edition of Carnets concerns precisely the latter period. Logbook in real reality, these notebooks provide their author the raw material of his literary creation and its political reflection, which was inspired to write letters, articles, essays, memoirs, short stories, novels and poems ... Unable to enjoy the reading of Carnets without having at least an idea of the context in which they were written. The author makes you constantly referring, often implicitly. The Carnets are the laboratory where you can see form the "universe" of the author, in permanent relationship with the "we" that surrounds it: the tragic scene of the revolution betrayed, but again and again resurgent. Even the contradictions which arise between the fragility of subjectivity and the need for collective action are the central theme.
