Grand Eden Hotel. Il segno di un'epoca. Ediz. illustrata: Il Grand Eden Hotel ha rappresentato e rappresenta un simbolo che, forse più di altri e non solo per la sua data di costruzione (1901), raffigura l'avvento dello stile Liberty a Napoli. A distanza di oltre un secolo, dopo la scomparsa di alcuni suoi pregevoli elementi caratterizzanti tra cui la quasi totalità della tessitura cromatica e il degrado dei dettagli ornamentali - e prima che fosse compromessa definitivamente l'immagine dell'ex albergo, si è dato inizio e portato a termine l'intervento di restauro. Nel presente testo, che rappresenta un importante contributo alla conoscenza delle vicende storiche e culturali in cui si riconobbe la costruzione, viene ricostruita la storia e la problematica di tale restauro. Lo studio, inoltre, ha consentito di conoscere i processi costruttivi e l'ambito storico e culturale nel quale le costruzioni di Angelo Trevisan furono progettate ed eseguite. Un viaggio nella memoria poiché, mentre si attuava il progetto di restauro, si ricostruiva parimenti l'identità dell'edificio e con essa quella dei protagonisti che vi presero parte.
The Grand Hotel Eden has represented and represents a symbol which, perhaps more than others, and not only because of its date of construction (1901), depicts the advent of Art Nouveau in Naples. After more than a century, after the disappearance of some of its valuable elements including almost all color webbing and the degradation of ornamental details-and before it was permanently impaired the image of the former hotel, began and finished the restoration. In this text, which represents an important contribution to the knowledge of the historical and cultural events in which they recognized the construction, rebuilds the history and problems of this restoration. The study also allowed to know the manufacturing processes and the historical and cultural context in which Angelo Trevisan buildings were planned and executed. A trip down memory lane because, while it also brought about the restoration project, we reconstructed the identity of the building and with it that of the protagonists who took part.
